Excitement at our back fence tonight. Nearly three hours of tornado warnings for our area, with confirmed touchdown a couple miles away. Grateful we and our friends are ok, however sounds like there are casualties at a local warehouse. Our garden hoophouse we just finished this afternoon came out unscathed. Somewhat bittersweet to feel both grateful for our safety while knowing others did not fare so well. So glad you are okay and our hearts go out to those that were not as lucky as to escape these storms unscathed. We too awoke to tornado sirens in the early morning. A few small limbs down but otherwise we are okay as well.

Been a busy week for me. Made 2 turkey tetrazzinis to freeze from Thanksgiving leftovers. Bought some canned soups from the Dollar Store on sale for a good price and stocked up. Found some bags on pineapple chunks on clearance and dehydrated them. Put another 8 pounds of cracked walnuts in the freezer. Almost finished with them for the year. Bought 3 hams for a really good price to make some ham and bean soup in the future to can. Found jar lids on the shelf and bought 8 boxes. First time in 2 years. Made another half gallon of blueberry brandy. Also restocked on sugar that I found for $1.50 for a 4 pound bag. Love them holiday sales!

AT my back fence it is a rainy and cold day. I had a great Christmas and my kids do pamper me. I got 20 boxes of jar lids 4 flannel wide quilt backings queen size, and 4 queen size washable wool quilt battings, and a ton of new yarn. Guess we all know what I will be doing this winter Lol. Life is good.
I have a few projects that I want to work on in the New Year as well. A 70 year old oak night stand that could stand a good refinishing is top of the list. I won't take down my tree until after the New Year.
The yard work is ahead of schedule. Most of the leaves have been mowed up and are in compost piles. Still a few leaves around but they are dwindling fast. Once they are gone one good gutter cleaning and that should be it.
I will start a sweet potato in water for slips next month.
My hens are starting to pick up on laying after a molt and the start of winter and all 3 of my duck hens are laying now.
My garlic is doing great and I put a light layer of chopped leaves over the top to protect it from the cold.
I still need to prune the plum trees, blueberry bushes and a peach tree but I have plenty of time.
Trimmed 2 very old Althea bushes to promote blooming. These bloom on new wood and every so often they need a good pruning to promote new wood growth. May not get blooms this spring but the next they should be glorious.
For now the goal is t keep the bird feeders full so I can watch them as I quilt and knit. Hot tea and seed catalog dreaming is also high on the list.
Happy New Year to you all if I don't get back here before and 2022 Blessings from The Holler.

Cleanup time! Burn permit from the county for all the limbs that fell in the storm to be burned. County called to make arrangements to have the mailbox replaced by the Dept of Transportation. Life goes on Snowmageddon 2022. Snow is almost gone.

I am focused on the backlog of household chores that got delayed by three weeks at my grandma's. tomorrow I hope to go out and see if the swiss chard survived the 7* lows we had. I did find what appears to be a bunny burrow in my garlic bed. 😡 They always pick the worst bed for their hideaways.
