Two pretty days in the forecast so back to the yard I go. More pruning, burning and spraying. Raking and compost turning. Lots of winter weeds to pull. Here we go back at it again !!

Spent the morning chasing a stray pup somebody dumped in the woods next door. Finally caught him and hoping to find him a home. Today I am cooking down chicken bones out of the freezer to clean it out. Tomorrow I will can the broth. No rest for the wicked!
O Wise One and I have the property looking pretty good. We have a huge pile of sticks and limbs that we pruned from the fruit to be burned as soon as we can get a burn permit. Hoping once this recent storm moves through to spray dormant horticulture oil and treat the fruit trees and grapes for bugs while they are indeed still dormant.
I noticed my daffodils are coming up.

Found my stray pup a forever home Doing a little jig !! Got my chicken bones cooked down for broth and working on caning it today using more of my reusable jar lids. Still have not been able to get a burn permit because of the wind. Got a dusting of snow last night and the yard has all kind of little sticks down out of the trees from the wind gusts. More stuff to burn eventually. Needless to say I did not get my spraying done. Off to the canner hoping everyone stays safe and warm... DD

Dirt Diva, how do you use the beef chunks you can? Roast is on sale this week so I was thinking about putting a few in jars to save room in my deep freeze.

Dirt Diva, how do you use the beef chunks you can? Roast is on sale this week so I was thinking about putting a few in jars to save room in my deep freeze. Our favorite is to add a jar of canned mixed vegetables and thicken the gravy with flour. From there you can either put it in a crust for a pot pie or leave it in a skillet and put biscuits canned or homemade on top and bake in the oven for beef and bicuits. Our other favorite is to add it to a pot and add onions, mushrooms and peas and heat up then add egg noodles and thicken the gravy a bit for hearty beef and noodles.

Good morning! Enjoying my cup of hot tea this morning after 4 days of rain with almost 5 inches received. Now it is snowing. **sigh** On a positive note though I just did the last turn on my quilt that is on the frame. It should be ready to bind within the week. I am happy with the way it has turned out and should make a great utility quilt with a nice warm and soft flannel backing. A smaller (twin) quilt and probably destined to the couch. A snuggle quilt definitely.
Mr. DD is filling the bird feeders this morning and Gypsy the Scottie dog has a squirrel treed in the backyard judging from the yips I am hearing. She hates squirrels with a passion. They are the bane of her existence and she drives everyone crazy with her infatuation.
Not cooking today but rather enjoying leftover pork roast from yesterday.
Warmer weather in the forecast for next week and I can't wait. Hoping to plant some garden boxes.
Hugs DD

Early morning hot tea and no rain. It spit snow on and off most of the morning yesterday with no accumulation. Did a curbside pickup and restocked on some stuff. Thought it was prudent with what is going on in the world. Just a few things. Hoping for a quiet weekend but a bit of snow in the forecast. We shall see. Warmer weather next week though.

Life life life. Well, I should be garden planning, but we are weighing an opportunity to move that just came up. We have been praying about it. I am hesitant to do a garden if my time will spent going through belongings and whittling down items. The move would be some distance away, but could happen over the course of many months. So hmmm, garden? Then I look at inflation, and not planting a garden just seems stupid. My husband says just to do flowers. Besides that, grandma is starting to need more of my time. Lol. She is 99, so time is precious. Any wisdom to offer?
Yesterday we rested, and today we worked. Got some long term projects wrapped up. Pondering doing a lot of canning this week. One freezer needs defrosting.

You can still can and preserve without gardening. Just watch those deal at the supermarket and partake. Time is indeed precious with grandma and cherish it for the treasure it is.

Today I got some of our overwintering herbs trimmed of their old branches. Swept off the patio. Did some housekeeping. My husband and I are talking through various projects, dependent upon whether or not we stay at our current home. Dreams with parameters. Lol!
