I had a brahma hen die today randomly. I'm wondering if it isn't from the heat. Heat index was 110 here today. They are in a shaded coop, with plenty of water. Google says brahmas (with their small combs) have a harder time getting themselves cooled off when it gets so hot out. Has anyone else had experience with chickens dying from heat?

Yes chickens can die from heat! Try providing them some shade if possible by stringing up a tarp and adding ice cubes to ther water or adding frozen treats such as corn frozen with water in ice cube trays or frozen fruit of some kind. I freeze plastic water bottles in the freezer to throw in my rabbit cages also. The rabbits snuggle against them cooling off. You can throw frozen bottles in your chicken water container or add one to your coop.
