I was told you dip sunflower leaves in cooked boiled and cooled elderberry juice and hang where flies are around and if they land on the leaves they will die before your eyes. Not sure if it works, maybe worth a try if have both available. Commentor said they hung the leaves in their garden to help rid it of bugs.
I do not think this would work! Anyone else read about, or have tried this before?

During summer, I foraged, with no luck finding elderberries. I was blessed to locate them yesterday and was elated to find where they are growing. My grandson, age 7, volunteered to help me pick and gathered about 3+ quarts after I sorted them off their stems last night. They were semi-dried on the stem, when found. I love the scent they have also! I refrigerated them once bagged and will wash in a little salt and few tablespoons white vinegar today! Great for making a syrup medicine for helping prevent cold and flu. It helps build the immune system. I have bought these in the health food store and made the recipe last year. DD, thanks for sharing your post about elderberry!
So many ways to prepare them! I cannot wait until next year to forage for these little jewels and try different recipes too!!!
