It is raining here yet again. The weather has been cooler though almost like Fall which I love. Did anyone see the full moon last night? It was a corn moon and beautiful. The Harvest full moon will be October 1st this year. I have yet another roaster full of tomato sauce in the roaster. I am cooking it really low for a long time to try and cook some of the water out of it. When it rains everyday it just drinks up that water. Okra on the drain board that I just watched that hubby picked this morning. In between everything else I sit down from time to time and check my computer and shell some more dried beans. I have onions again in the dehydrator.

I still haven't gotten around to experimenting with canning butter but I see where Kroger has it on sale for 1.99 a pound Kroger brand again. Think I will pick a bit more up. Just in case

I was going to ask everyone hubby went down to dollar general to pick up some scratch pads for me and said the shelves are almost bare. How are the shelves where you live? There is a run on scratch pads? What??!! Suddenly everyone is doing dishes by hand. LOL!! I need to go to Dollar General for those cheap lasagna pans. Gonna use the narrow 4" ones for microgreen trays. Yesterday and today are the first times in my year of learning how to can where I wasn't apprehensive about it. So happy about that. Think my brain has settled into the ryhthm and how to handle timing. It is sad to look out the kitchen window and see the garden dying back. It brings so much joy to watch things grow.

I know right! Maybe we don't have to wash dishes anywhere since we can't get scratchy pads Lol!

Well the temps are definitely falling in my neck of the woods. Had to dig out a light quilt to add to the bed. Soon we will be turning the clocks back. Where has the summer gone? And definitely one to remember. Pandemics, shortages, riots sounds like something out of a movie right. But here on the mountain things are quiet. Flu cases are few and all the rest of these shenanigans give us something to talk about while we sit on the back porch and shell beans on a crisp fall day. I remember as a kid my grandfather prophesying the world was going to hell in a hand basket. Looks like the hand basket isn't full yet. Life goes on

Much the same here, DD. The summer bedding has seen it's day and the warmer quilt is out on the bed. I am always struck by the suddenness of Autumn. Apart from having the chance to work from home for a while, the odd bit panic buying and shortages here and there, my life has pretty much bobbed along as usual. It has been the strangest of years and no mistake.

Here on the Oregon coast it is unseasonably hot. 90 degrees today with smoke so thick it turns the sun bright red and the sky is smokey orange. Most of the smoke is from fires far away but with the hot dry winds today we have had several local fires. Luckily they have been controlled by the hard working fire fighters and volunteers in our county. Yesterday I canned the first applesauce of the season with our Honeycrisp apples.I took Asian pears out of the dehydrator this morning. I started canning roasted tomato soup while hubby harvested the corn crop and cleaned it. I canned it this afternoon. I have been shelling dried beans as I wait for the pressure canner to do its magic. Sent the hubby to pick up a few more pint jars since I am canning more this year. Not one to be found in our little town. I will be using my 1.5 pint jars more this year. Luckily I have plenty of 8 ounce jars for when the tuna comes in! Hope the fall weather is better than here for most of you. We will return to our wonderful 70 degree weather in a few days. For now we just pray for no more fires to start.

We took it mostly easy today. Everything has been soo rush rush that our focus was getting skewed. It is funny how continuous activity can make you forget about what really matterd to you.
I did manage to make some oatmeal granola so the guys have something to put in their yogurt for breakfast.

The hard part for me is not feeling guilty about not getting anything done when I take time off. I am my own worst enemy. Took me a long time to figure out it is okay not to get anything done
