We took it mostly easy today. Everything has been soo rush rush that our focus was getting skewed. It is funny how continuous activity can make you forget about what really matterd to you. I did manage to make some oatmeal granola so the guys have something to put in their yogurt for breakfast. The hard part for me is not feeling guilty about not getting anything done when I take time off. I am my own worst enemy. Took me a long time to figure out it is okay not to get anything done I am the exact same way. Runs in the family, actually. What do you do to make yourself stop? We try to make one day a week a Sabbath, and trust the unfinished projects to God. Otherwise I know I would work myself and those around me into the ground. Been there, done that, and they STILL worry I am gonna give them something else to do. 😜 It feels like there is a shift coming in the next couple of weeks, so we are trying to slow ourselves down to see what we need to do to move forward as a family. My husband has a couple job options popping up in the next week or two, and I know that will make life change yet again. So I am choosing to make family time the priority at the moment. But it is SOOO hard, because there is still canning to do, plants to plant, a garden to clean up, and a thick coating of dust all over the house. Oh well.

For me it was when I became sick with cancer. I sat at the door and watched the weeds grow up in my garden and cried. Then something miraculous happened my husband gathered up neighbors and friends and family and I woke up one morning to the entire neighborhood cleaning my garden. All those goody boxes of vegetables to the neighbors and flower arrangements to the bare graves of the forgotten in the cemetery all the kindnesses I had shown for 20 years cam full circle. Those unkept beds and weeds were God's way of providing an opportunity for others to help me.

I have gave out canning and no jars returned, as back in the day I was taught to return those jars for reuse to the one whom I was gifted from. Now my dilemma is nobody thinks of this or I would be loaded in jars. Somehow I find what I need although. This coming November, I will be 3 years out from quadruple open heart bypass surgery. I thought I had pneumonia, never had pneumonia before, and learned I was only functioning on 20% of my heart. It has took me two years to feel like me again. I have canning in my blood and canned the first summer after surgery. I do not do as much as I was accustomed to, in the past, thank God I am able to do things I love such as gardening also too! The day of my surgery, I turned it all over to God regardless! I let go of the steering wheel and the radio knob too! God still has purpose for our lives! Never give up!!! 😎💞

Well it is pretty boring quiet here these days. I froze more eggs in bags. Caught grapes on sale and froze some as snacks. O Wise One is mowing the lawn and we are cleaning the garden a little as we have a few spare minutes. We are still picking okra and dehydrating and still working on dehydrating all the onions. Still waiting on figs to ripen and still have some purple hulls, butter beans and horticulture beans not quite ready to pick. Plum tomatoes are going strong as is the big Rainbow slicer. Cukes are winding down. Still waiting on some watermelons too. Heard that my granddaughter at college has Covid. I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. I am so worried for her. With another hurricane hitting the gulf coast I have to wonder if we are in for more rainy weather. Also got a load of wood chips from the county trimming around lines. Lots of work there.

I focused on indoor stuff that has been on the backburner. Amazingly enough, I feel like it gave me energy to do that instead of canning today; like maybe my brain was having a difficult time focusing because of the clutter and normal projects that have been delayed. Tomorrow I will check on the pickles that have been forgotten in the fermentation crock (😳😳😳), and do some kombucha. Then I should be ready to dive back into canning the produce. Hooray!

Sometimes just a little change of scenery helps I think. A wee bit of a break from canning.

Well today the tv went out and O Wise One could not watch his daily new report this morning so he is off to buy a new tv. I am slicing okra he picked this morning for the dehydrator. I am also going to throw in some celery and green peppers from the fridge that need to be used for something before thy go soft. As I get time here and there cleaning beds and mulching.

Do not touch the remote in their presence or there may be an upset man. Lol! 😄

Oh my Lord what a day! Dehydrator full of onions. Tomatoes waiting to go into it. Plum tomatoes roasting in the oven with onions, basil, garlic and olive oil. Froze 2 dozen more eggs. 1 gallon bag of Okra and 2 of sweet peppers washed and in the fridge for tomorrow. Made 6 premade salads for the fridge to eat on the next few days with lettuce, fresh sliced cucumber and plum tomato. Will add green peas, pickled beets, boiled eggs and cheese when I serve with croutons of dried salted sunflower seeds and homemade ranch dressing. Picked lemon balm and waiting to wash it and will hang it to dry for tea.
Taking a break. My knee is hurting and have it iced down and gonna take a few.

Wow! I am thinking of trying the dehydrated onions. Do you keep the frozen eggs in just a gallon baggie?

Wow! I am thinking of trying the dehydrated onions. Do you keep the frozen eggs in just a gallon baggie? There are days I ask myself this question. I have had a few health hurdles this year to contend with that have made things a bit more difficult. I had an onset of vertigo that caused a fall that sent me for a loop. My vertigo is slowly improving though. Second was a knee injury from when one of the big dogs knocked me over. Spent some time on crutches and then a brace for that knee. Doc said I had a pretty good case of arthritis in that knee from the xray and the injury aggravated that. I wanted to plant a large garden this year though due to the state of thing with the virus. Next year I will go back to a smaller and more manageable garden I hope as things get better. Maybe not though.... time will tell. I scramble 6 eggs at a time and freeze in quart freezer bags.

Oh that makes sense! Freezing as scrambled is easier. I had been freezing the individually, in cupcake molds. Only two doz will fit in a gallon bag.
I am sorry to hear about you health issues. Hope as the garden and outside work slows down that you will be able to recover more quickly!
