I am hoping enough of you have both types of canners and can give some advice about which is faster and less "iffy".
I have the All-American 925. It has been used maybe 10 times, and each time I have had problems with it venting around the rim both while going up to and while under pressure. Made sure the rim has olive oil or petroleum oil? Check. Made sure the bolts are evenly tightened, with even spacing? Check. What. In. The. World. Am. I. Doing. Wrong?? I have called customer service, and the guy only said to make sure I am using olive oil as there can be issues with using petroleum oil. Ok. So today I used olive oil. And it is still leaking steam around various parts of the rim. And it isnt even up to full pressure yet.
Is the Presto canner easier? Maybe I made a mistake starting off with the AA. But I saved up and bought it because I wanted to not have to buy seals or gaskets, etc. I do have a Presto canner which I bought second hand, but I have never used it. And with my husband out of work, getting it checked isnt really an option.
Sorry to vent (hahahaaaa). I just really want to make sure we have shelf stable food, and with as much work and time pressure canning can be I was hoping it would be something I could enjoy. But at the moment, I totally dread it. Any advice?

Another question. The batch just finished.... And one keeps burping? Never had that happen before. Is that normal?

Please forgive me for one more question. If there is siphoning on broth, which is typically greasy, will the seal be good?

I have never used an American so I can't really compare.

I have heard the All American is a better canner (and given the price different, I would hope so), but I grew up with my mother using a Presto, and my wife and I use a presto as well. It's never given us problems, but we have had to buy replacement seals once or twice. Sorry to hear you've had issues with your AA.
