Turnip Green Soup:
1 t. vegetable oil 1 lb. kielbasa sausage, cut quartered or in 1" round slices 1 onion chopped 5 c. chicken broth 2 (20 ounce cans) turnip greens 2 (14.5 ounce cans) great northern beans, rinsed and drained 1 pkg. vegetable soup mix (such as Knorr's vegetable soup mix or similar) 1 t. hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco) 1 t. garlic powder 1 pinch Creole seasoning (such as Tony Chachere's), or to taste salt and pepper, to taste
Step 1:
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook and stir kielbasa and onion in the hot oil until onion is tender, 5-7 minutes; set aside.
Step 2:
Stir chicken broth, turnip greens, great northern beans, vegetable soup mix, hot pepper sauce, garlic powder, Creole seasoning, salt and black pepper together in a large saucepan; bring to a boil. Stir kielbasa mixture into the boiling broth mixture, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook at a simmer for 2 hours.
Serves 12 If cooked in slow cooker cook on low 4-5 hours.
