Went to the stands, sheds and homes of local farmers and gathered last of items needed to stock up. My brother (Tommy) and I used to do this with our Mother, brings back fun memories, and is now a tradition to carry on. We found and bought Mississippi sweet potatoes, green peanuts, cucumbers, cantaloupe, sugar melon, squash, eggplant, rattlesnake green beans, sweet onions, purple onions, jalapenos, and scorpion peppers. Any tips on scorpions peppers as I thought they were scotch bonnets, both are hot! I want to boil cajun peanuts and considered using a little in them, not sure though! Also picked up eggs to make pickled eggs very soon.
I viewed the Carolina reaper pepper and decided to pass...I may use the trinidad scorpions for a pain lotion or salve.

I have canned boiled peanuts. I Love them! Time to break out the old Presto #21 canner. Luckily I have found lids and sure gel recently. Needing to pressure can. Never canned the peanuts before. Great idea although. Never too old to learn and do.

I want to make that same trip and get some apples and sweet potatoes. My sweet potatoes did not do a thing. Last year I had sweet potatoes that were huge. That's the way gardening goes

I have wanted to do this too.

Reply to handmaid: Not exactly farmers market. It is actually farm country, on site locations, where they fresh pick and stock to sell immediately.
