I once had the opportunity to meet Mr. Tommie Bass who visited our home and property. Of course, and thankfully he strolled the woods also, He was a total delight to meet and listen to. He was an Uncle to my Mom's last husband and was visiting family on that day.

If you have never met or learned of him, you may look him up on the web. He believed everything was here for a purpose and knew the natural things that grow wild and how to use it for it's purpose. He lived mostly off the land and had knowledge which he used helping educate foragers on how to survive. He was well known by his followers and sought out by many people who wanted to learn the old ways of surviving from the land. He was called by some as an Herb Doctor and made his own salves and tinctures from nature. The correct spelling of his first name is Tommie, apologize for any confusion in the incorrect way spelled on first post, which I have corrected now.

Mr. Tommie Bass passed in the 1990's, another resource who apprenticed under him was Darryl Patton/herbalist to search on the web for foraging herbs. Catfish Gray also is a good herbalist to look up on the web (who also has passed on since 2002).

Several years ago my father-in-law bought jars of Tommie Bass salve. Can’t remember where he got them, but I believe it was from somebody who makes the salve using the old recipe.

Where have you been? I looked back on your post and know when you have not posted, you have been missed! Tommie Bass had an encyclopedia, it seemed, in his head, for all things that grew and it's purpose. A remedy for most anything through nature and pretty nail on with his knowledge. Wish he lived next door!
